I have an extra space separate from my home that seems perfect for having painting classes. The space is a good size and has a small kitchen and a bathroom and is not being used at this time.
Before I completely decide to take a walk down this path, I was wondering if you might give me some feedback on the thought?
- What would you like to learn from me?(roses are a given)
- To do a canvas painting where I would have a still life of roses/flowers set up already where you could paint a painting in a day (like the Victorian ladies used to do)?
- For me to have a project and design organized and set up for you (or) for you to bring your own project for me to help you with?
-What day of the week would be best for you?
Feel free to give me your input, believe me I greatly appreciate it!!! XO Christie

I've always wanted to take painting classes but I guess I've never just taken the time to do. I think you either have the talent to do this or you don't. My son is a gifted artist and can really draw. I'm sure if you give classes there's a lot anyone can learn from you. Good luck with this, T
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fun class to take. I've always wanted to learn to paint.:) My great grandmother was a painter. You could start off with a small painting to teach the technique :)

What a great idea Christie! I would want to bring my own piece to paint on, like a shelf or a plain jewelry box (available at Jo-Ann). Very useful too. Week day would be my day to take a class. How exciting! Ciao Rita mammabellarte
ReplyDeleteWhat do I think? I think YOU are brillant!
ReplyDeleteTake care, Sue
I would love to take one of your classes. I have painted to years and would like to master the rose as you have! However, Ohio it quite a distance away:) I, myself have be thinking of offering sewing classes in our community. I will keep watch to see how it goes for you. Consider me your first student from a distance...and Good Luck!
ReplyDeleteI would love to join your classes !
ReplyDeleteVery nice roses in your flower's blog !
Kiss
Oh my goodness what a wonderful idea.
ReplyDeleteHi! I have admired your art for years and would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the opportunity to take a class from you.
ReplyDelete- What would you like to learn from me?(roses are a given) I would like to learn your color palette (exact paint colors), technique (how to make a painting look ethereal), etc.
- To do a canvas painting where I would have a still life of roses/flowers set up already where you could paint a painting in a day (like the Victorian ladies used to do)? That sounds fun!
- For me to have a project and design organized and set up for you (or) for you to bring your own project for me to help you with? More likely the former for starters.
-What day of the week would be best for you?
Any day. I'd make it happen :)
Any chance you'd be having one or two day seminars? I'd love a reason to come out to CA.
ReplyDeleteI would love for you to teach an online painting class. I am not sure how you set it up, but your students pay ahead and then take each online class once a week at their speed, so any day works for them and any time...what do you think? I would take an online class!! You might have a lot more students from afar than you realize.
ReplyDeleteHi sweet Christie:-). The girl who does the china painting on my website Farnaz taught out of her home studio for a number of years and enjoyed it very much! I think it's a fabulous idea if you enjoy teaching. Go for it! xoxo, Janet
ReplyDeletehi christie, its true that if you love what you do, then it isn't work.. have the hours to suit you... they will come in droves, don't take on too much and enjoy!!! ps. if you do it on line... sign me up!! hugs xx
ReplyDeletegUAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU....ES MARAVILLOSO!!
ReplyDeleteI think any option is a great idea but I too could only do it online (Australia is a far distance to travel from!) but would love to learn how to paint a rose.. take care, Maryann
ReplyDeleteOh- I wish I lived closer! I think the idea where there is one thing set up and you can kind of guide each person as they create their own "take" on it. Be prepared though...it is not an easy job to teach...and people will expect their paintings to look like yours...and we know THAT ain't gonna happen, honey!;>) But...the joy of doing it should far exceed any negatives~ Good luck...Hugs- Diana
ReplyDeleteWOW....count me in..
ReplyDeleteonline classes would be great to...
I have been thinking of taking some classes and I would love to have you be my teacher
HELLO CHRISTIE,
ReplyDeleteSOUNDS LIKE A WONDERFUL IDEA!!!
BOY!! I WISH I LIVED BY YOU, SO I COULD TAKE PAINTING CLASSES WITH YOU :)
XO~MARI
Christie, it would be my dream to come and take classes from you, but I'm way back here in Kentucky. I wish there was some way to take a class from you on line. I'm sure you'll have a waiting list for whatever you decide. I will watch your blog to see how this progresses. What about video taping your classes, I would defintely buy the video or pay you to take classes on line. I paint roses and they sure could use some improvement.
ReplyDeleteClasses would be a great idea for you and your students! They would be learning from the best!!
ReplyDeleteAnd you would be spreading the love you have in your heart for painting. I think a small project, like a shelf or container! Good luck! I'm sure anything will be wonderful!
Hugs,
Eloise
Hi Christie!!!
ReplyDeleteThis would be a dream come true!! Even though I live in Ontario,Canada..I would fly out to California in a FLASH to have the Queen of Roses teach me! Would you consider a 2 or 3 day seminar? How about on line classes or your own DVD? PLEASE say yes?...to one or all of the above:)
Mary
What a wonderful idea... to be mentored and tutored by you would be quite an honor... only wish I lived closer!!!!!!!!!!! I'm with Mary on the DVD being made available for those of us who could not be there in person! I'd be painting Roses on EVERYTHING if I could have mine turn out even half as lovely as the ones that grace your amazing Art! Even the Grandkids would have to keep in motion to avoid being body-Art painted!!! *winks*
ReplyDeleteDawn... The Bohemian
I think classes from you would be fantastic! I would have a difficult time being able to come to CA for a class and really like the ideas of either a DVD or online class. If I were to travel it would, a two or three day seminar would be easier to justify. If I lived closer and were to take a class at your home (which I would love), I would like the arrangement set up and focus on learning your techniques.
ReplyDeleteanything....just make sure you think in terms of "painting for dummies" where i'm concerned! LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Christie,
ReplyDeleteYessss, fabulous idea. I too would like to learn 'your roses'
The hardest part is normally the space and you have that going for you already.
I have been teaching from a home based studio for years.
My students bring their own pieces and designs{sometimes being my designs} and they paint at their own pace and I teach and advise along the way.
You should make the class times to suit you.
I have three classes of two hours each at different hours during the day.
I'd be happy to help you with any questions, just drop me an email.
Good luck,
Hugs,
Anna
This would be wonderful Christie! I like the idea of you setting up a still life (roses would be my first choice)painting on a canvas, completing a picture in one day and perhaps offering a "special project day" maybe once a month where you have a project and design set up for those who attend.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Karon
Hi Christie ~ I think this is a fantastic idea for you! BUT...for those of us who live far away from CA, and there seem to be quite a few of us!, an online class would be AMAZING! I also love the idea of you videotaping lessons and selling them as I know that I would definitely purchase something like that. Can't wait to hear what you come up with! ~Stacy~
ReplyDeleteHi Christie,
ReplyDeleteI think it's a great idea. If I lived closer, I'd be there in a second. Sounds dreamy to me!
Have a great weekend, sweetheart!
Aren't you just loving this sunshine? ;)
xoxo~Tracie
Yay, I was able to add your blog to my favorites on my blog! Mission Accomplished. Great to see you today.
ReplyDeleteHugs.
Christie, I am thrilled to hear that you are thinking about teaching! I have admired your art for Years...I would love it if you could also do something on line, or a dvd to purchase. So those who can't make it to California can also participate. I often wondered if you taught lessons? Perhaps you could show how to paint the roses, leaves, ribbons, and the darling birds...You could have a whole series! Love the canvas art, and the painting on furniture etc.
ReplyDeleteI think you can set your own terms and we'll all come running!...That's what I think! *winks* What a thrill it would be to learn from you! I'd fly to you to do that. Vanna
ReplyDeleteChristie,
ReplyDeleteThis is a fantastic idea! You can do maybe 4 week classes one being Still LifeI, II III etc (every painting will still be different, which is so fun to see) When the weather is better A Plein Aire Class would also be nice.
Yay for making your dreams come true!
Come and join my amazing giveaway from Splenderosa!

Christie, I finally found this blog and I'm so eager to learn to paint from you! Unfortunately, I live too far away from you to attend classes at your home unless they were a couple of days together. The idea of a DVD is even better, so I could replay it as needed. Please let me know when you decide whether you are going to start the classes or make a DVD. I'm very interested!
ReplyDeleteChristie, I have followed your work for years and love everything you do. I would love love love to take classes from you but, I live here in Washington state. I asked brfore and I think you may have mentioned doing some paint class videos. I really hope that you decide to do this. I for one would buy it immediately. I know you are very busy but, please think about this. I think you would be successful with it. Thank you for sharing your God given gifts with us. You are so blessed and so are we. shirleyayates@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteIf I were closer (I'm in Oregon), I'd be there in a heartbeat! :( Best Wishes with this idea, it will be awesome for you!

ReplyDeleteI paint roses but would love to know how to paint even better roses.. Your work is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteCindy
Christie, I taught painting classes for years. It gives you a special opportunity to meet others with a like passion as well as offering you a chance to share and grow in your art. I highly recomend you give it a shot :) best wishes and thank you for being such a blessing to others.
ReplyDeleteI would love taking painting classes from you...more than 1. I'd prefer to bring my own piece to paint (perhaps a drawer or small item). My ultimate goal would be to paint the front of a dresser or piece of furniture. I prefer the rose swag paintings that are painted on furniture pieces. PLEASE offer painting classes!
ReplyDeleteDear Christie, this would be a dream come true! I would love to paint a canvas in a one day class and could come any day but Saturday. Hope this works out, you are the best!
ReplyDeleteAlice
Hi Christie,
ReplyDeleteI would love to take a class from you! How do I find out when the class will be held? Diana
