"Cottage Girls"

A Warm Welcome and a Wonderful Shop "The Tattered House"

After being on the road for 8 hours, Rita and I were so excited to finally arrive in Roseville . We walked into the shop and were immediately overwhelmed by the warm welcome from the "Girls". As I gazed around the shop I felt a sense of tranquility and peace as each room flowed into the next. The color palette was very pale mixed with allot of neutrals . There was a cleverness in each vignette as they combined their collections of found objects.I was very inspired by there creativity. Enjoy some of  the photos I took. English Cottage Romance!

I know I'm going backward in regard to blogging the trip to Roseville but I have to show you my last stop first. This cottage is so darn adorable I can hardly stand it! It's owned by my dear friend and customer Cindy Brown. When she saw on the event page of my website that I was headed her way, she immediately e-mailed me to invite us to her romantic cottage home. The minute we pulled up to it my heart was going pitter- patter. I hope you enjoy the photos. Thank you Cindy for your kindness and hospitality, you were the icing on the cake!

Finding Treasure to Embellish with Roses

It's crunch time for "The Roseville Antique Market" Lot's to do before we packup the truck and head north on Friday. I'm looking forward to exploring new places along the way with hope of finding vintage treasures to embellish with roses!

   

French Style Perfume Bottles

In this economy I'm always open to new ideas to utilize my art on less exspensive accessories to go with my paintings.  With all the Marie Antoinette craze in decorating and the feminine romantic details this style has brought into our homes, It's been fun for me to think of ways to recreate the items that bring in the french ambiance. One of the ideas that I have been so excited about lately is embellishing old glass bottles.

Fashion Lampshade Cover

Thursday while out shopping  for clothes with my daughter Cherise for her birthday, I was stopped in my tracks as I zero-ed in on all the  frilly, ruffled and lacey skirts and blouses out in the mall right now. I've always noticed how fashion and decorating trends seem to coincide with each other but this time it really hit me as I took in all the racks and rows of pretty clothes. Then one skirt imparticular kept speaking to me, it was the softest mocha pink color with tiers of whispy ruffles . I just was so attracted to it, and I knew that I would not be caught dead wearing it, but I had to have it! Then the idea came to me to make a lampshade cover out of it. The cost was only 15.00 dollors and I could not have been more excited to get home and put it on my lamp and decorate it with a rose like an old prom dress.

Twenty-two years ago today I had a beautiful baby girl! I was so excited when I learned I was having a daughter, another girl in the family. I grew up the oldest of 3 brothers and always longed for another girl, hopefully a sister to share my life with, play dress up with, share my thoughts and dreams with and just be friends. But my Mom keep having boys. I was famous for dressing my brothers up as little girls when holloween came around, I thought they looked so pretty in all the make-up I put on them .Anyway, todays the day I got my GIRL! but guess what she turned out to be my little tomboy. I tried endlessly to dress her up in ribbons and lace but as soon as I turned around she stripped down to diapers and her pink high top tennies.She has always been so full of life and energy and a star athelete, no roses or frills in her bedroom or on her clothes, but beautiful just the same. This year my daughter shocked me when she told me what she wanted for her birthday, that she wanted to spend the day with me at Carlsbad Flower Fields and then go shopping for something to wear and have lunch. I was so excited, I told her that everyone was going to think I bribed her into doing what I wanted her to do , she just giggled. Well we had a wonderful time , sharing our thoughts and dreams and a beautiful day in a flower garden, she even wanted a dress with rosettes sewn on it, and instead of tennies she wore her high heels.
